The exhibition is a cross-section of the history of the representation of sound as an abstract phenomenon from the avant-garde to the present. The works selected include many different forms, ranging from abstract images, unconventional scores, resounding or resonating objects, and installations, to films and multimedia projections. By means of historical and contemporary works the exhibition wishes to show how sound acquires color and shape, becomes an object, or a spatial composition of physical action. It examines the psychological and psychophysical, as well as the physical and mathematical factors that predetermine its visual appearance.
